Makenzie Good

Makenzie is a youth development consultant with over 12 years of experience working in youth & family programs as well as a master’s degree in psychology, with an emphasis on child development, and a certificate in play therapy. She has experience working in community mental health, camping and outdoor leadership, program development, and informal and formal teaching roles. She lives on Bainbridge Island where she is raising her two young children and enjoys hiking, boating, and playing outdoors.

“There is a strong correlation between connection, playing together, and being outdoors with positive health outcomes for youth and adults. I believe that when children feel safe, connected, and cared for they can approach the world with curiosity, confidence, and compassion. The best way to help children is to support parents and caregivers who are directly involved in the work of raising humans.

I borrow from a variety of different parenting models but am most heavily influenced by neurobiology, attachment theory, and playful parenting. I believe that every family and every child is unique and therefore a one-size-fits-all parenting approach is not effective. I work with families to create a parenting philosophy uniquely tailored to their family’s needs, challenges, strengths, and values.

There is no such thing as a perfect parent, but there are a million ways to be a good one. I do not have it all figured out, but together I can help you navigate the ever-changing challenges of raising humans.”
